Welcome to the Aesthetician Coach Blog. Today we are discussing leveling up your social media game.
Love it or Hate it, it’s not going anywhere and we need a strong online presence to help our business grow and flourish. Instead of fighting it, I’m learning to embrace it. I’ve put together some tips that you can start utilizing NOW!
I don’t think it's the only way that you can grow your business but it’s definitely an important part. Before we jump in have you noticed that you can now add a song to your profile and a quick note above the picture?
1: Building a Strong Presence and Foundation
First, make sure your profile is optimized for your ideal clients to find you on instagram. Here’s are some ways to do that:
Profile Optimization
Profile Picture: Be sure to have a clear, high quality profile picture that represents you and your business professionally.
User Name: Does it reflect your business? Is it something clients are searching for?
Name Field: This field will still show up in searches, I would suggest having something different than your user name here so that it creates more opportunities to be found by your ideal clients.
BIO: Make the most of your space. It needs to clearly communicate who you are, what you do, and what you offer and how they can buy or book with you.
Call-to-Action (CTA): Include a clear call-to-action to either visit your website, book an appointment or contact you through your direct messages. Make it easy and spell out the action you would like for them to take to connect or work with you.
Link: When possible have one link in your profile either your website or linktree page.
Highlights: This is where you will show your best work, client testimonials or any behind-the-scenes content.
Location: Include your location so that your ideal clients know where to find you.
2. Content Pillars
Content Pillars are main topics or themes around how your content is organized. Each of the pillars represent an area that you want to focus on for your audience and business. Content pillars help you to have a plan and create clear direction for your content. This makes it easy to stay consistent and on brand. Life is easier with a plan and social media is easier with a content plan and pillars.
It’s ideal to create 3-5 content pillars that reflect your brand and resonate with your audience. Here are 5 of the most popular for estheticians.
Educational Tips & Skincare Advice
Share expert knowledge on skincare routines, product usage, and ingredient breakdowns. This can include tips on maintaining healthy skin, seasonal skincare advice, or how-to videos.
Before & After Transformations
Showcase client results with before and after photos. This builds trust and shows them the transformation of your services. This will help your clients visualize what they can expect to receive from a treatment.
Behind-the-Scenes Content
Give followers a glimpse into your daily routine, the preparation for a treatment, or the ambiance of your treatment room. This helps to build a connection with your audience.
Client Testimonials & Success Stories
Highlight positive feedback from clients and share their success stories. Social proof reinforces the value of your services and encourages new clients to book with you.
Promotional Content & Special Offers
Promote your services, products, or limited-time offers. This can include announcements for new treatments, discounts, or package deals to drive sales and bookings.
3. Creating Engaging Content
This must not be overlooked. Creating engaging and aesthetically pleasing content will help establish you professionally and as the expert. Our social media page is most of the time the first point of contact we have with our clients. It needs to stand out and showcase why they should book with you.
Tips to create engaging posts:
Visual Aesthetics:
Lighting - invest in quality lighting for both your before and after photos and pictures for social accounts
Include the use of high-quality images- make sure you are proud of your work and what you are posting. Quality over quantity.
Color schemes-create and find your brand that resonates with your business and your values.
Be consistent in post design- once you find a design stick with it for a while to see how it works for you and your business
It’s important to mix up your content types to keep your audience engaged. Here are a few ways you can mix up your content. Canva is a great option for creating carousels and different posts for your business. It also has a great tool to help you brand your content.
Content Variety:
Carousels
Videos
Stories
Reels
4. Growing Your Audience
Growing your audience on instagram can sometimes feel tricky with the algorithm changes but the important thing is to stay consistent and focus on your end goal.
Hashtag Strategy:
Always use hashtags. Hashtags are relevant and help label and categorize your content. Use relevant and targeted hashtags to get more eyes on your content. Be sure to use ones that relate to your post. Don’t pick random hashtags just because you think they will get your post seen.
Use at least 3-5 hashtags but you can use up to 30.
Focus on quality keywords.
Location based hashtags are great for small businesses.
Check out the volume in hashtags. It’s typically better to use a hashtag with 1000 rather than a million because it can get buried with a higher number of post counts.
Engagement Tactics:
Be sure to respond to comments and engage with your audience.
Schedule a live hosting Q&A session weekly/monthly.
Encouraging user-generated content-ask your clients to tag you in their post when they receive a treatment.
Collaborations:
Reach out and collaborate with other estheticians or beauty pro’s for an instagram live, post or giveaway.
5. Consistency and Analytics
Be consistent and use your analytics to help you grow your account.
Posting Schedule:
Set a set schedule and post consistently. Show up when your audience expects you to.
Make your posting schedule realistic for you and your business. Post on days you are in the spa.
Tracking Success:
Use facebook and instagram analytics to measure the success of your social media content.
Track your most successful posts and stories. See what’s working and what’s not to create future content.
Don’t be afraid to try something new or different. Sometimes you have to test content to see what your audience responds to.
Focus Your Efforts:
Here are the top 5 things you can focus on to level up your social media content as an esthetician.
Optimize your profile
Create your content pillars
Create quality engaging content
Focus on growing your audience
Be consistent and track your progress

Quote: “The only way you are going to have success is to have lots of failures first.” Sergey Bin
Don’t be afraid to fail for it’s in the failures that we will find success. We have to try new things to know what we need to improve to get better and succeed. Pivot, change, take action…..just do something. Your failures will get you closer to success. Guaranteed!
