Welcome back to the Aesthetician Coach Blog! How has your week been? It’s been a busy week for me but I have to tell you about one of my coaching clients! She texted me this week to let me know she hit her goal of a $1000 day with only 4 clients!! We have been working together for about 6 weeks. She is a solo esthetician and rents her own space. I’m so happy for her and so proud of her! She has been putting in the work! So today I want to share some of the things we implemented and shifted in her solo esthetician business to make that happen.

When I first met with her we made a list of goals that she wanted to see happen in her business. We came up with a plan and a list to start working toward those goals. Each week we have tackled a different area in her business to make those changes and shifts AND IT’S WORKING!

Here are 7 things that we prioritized and she has been working on.

  1. Goal Setting. You have to have a plan and you have to work the plan. It’s not enough to set your goals and open your doors. You have to take action towards those goals. That will be your first step to getting where you want to go. Next, write out an action plan for each goal on your list. How are you going to achieve those goals? Start implementing those actions, one goal at a time.

  2. We figured out her Ideal Client. We narrowed down who her ideal client is and who she wants to attract into her business. That helps us with determining the services she’s offering and where she is spending her marketing dollars and efforts to truly make the most of her time and money.

  3. We revamped her menu. We took off the services on her menu that she just didn’t enjoy doing and that didn’t bring in the revenue to meet her financial goals. Don’t be afraid to let go of those services that you don’t enjoy and that are not helping you meet your goals.

  4. Increase Pricing. We put a plan in place to increase her pricing on her current services. She hadn’t increased her prices in years so it was time to make adjustments. Some we were able to change immediately and some we came up with a plan to gradually increase. I know that is scary and not easy for solo estheticians because you don’t want to run your current clients off and you're afraid that you will lose business because of it. So it’s definitely something that you want to handle strategically with your current clientele and give them plenty of notice. It’s also something that is so important to stay on top of because you have to be able to keep your lights on and earn an income for your family. This is your livelihood. So I think as long as you approach this mindfully and with the right intentions you can be successful at it and your clients will understand.

  5. Social Media/ Marketing. We came up with a social media strategy and content calendar that worked for her business. We also discussed possibly hiring a social media person to help meet her goals. If hiring someone is not a possibility for you right now, start where you are if you can post 2-3x’s a week then commit to that and post on those days. Don’t get overwhelmed with social media. Yes, it’s important but again make a plan and stick to it. Be consistent and committed and know that sometimes life happens, don’t beat yourself up if you miss a post day– just get back on track and stay the course.

  6. Focus on Retail Sales. I’m going to keep saying it. Because if you’re not making retail a priority in your business you are missing out. She started prioritizing discussing a skincare regimen at the end of her treatments with her clients. It’s part of our job as an esthetician to tell our clients about home skincare. They are going to get amazing results combining an at home regimen with their treatment plan. So make this a priority of every appointment when you analyze their skin that you are discussing their home skincare regimen and how to get them the best results in and out of the treatment room.

  7. Comprehensive Customized Consult. Make sure with every client you are analyzing their skin and talking about their skincare concerns. You are letting them know what treatments and packages would best benefit their skin and help them reach their goals. Always include a personalized at home skincare regimen designed specifically for them to target and transform their skin. They are coming to you because they see you as their skincare expert. So show up for them as that expert and be their guide.

Here’s your homework: Think about your top 2 goals this week? Maybe you want to see 3 new clients, or you want to make $500 extra this week? What can you do today to start working toward those goals? Spend 30-60 minutes a day prioritizing working on your business goals. I know we are all crunched for time so do what you can but this will make such a difference in your business if you are prioritizing those goals that you want to meet. Pick an area below to work on this week!

  • Goal Setting

  • Finding Your Ideal Client

  • Revamping and updating your menu

  • Evaluating Your Current Prices

  • Staying Consistent with Your Social Media and Marketing

  • Focusing on retail sales

  • Giving your clients a comprehensive consultation

These are all things that are going to help you grow your esthetician business. Stay committed to your journey. It doesn’t happen overnight but it will happen if you keep putting in the work. Keep going back to your why. And if something is not working for you, change it…pivot, try something new.
