
Welcome back to the Aesthetician Coach Blog. Today we are talking about getting new clients in the door as a new aesthetician or business owner. This is one of the top questions that I hear from new estheticians all the time. So I’m excited to share some tried and true strategies to help you get new clients in the door.
5 Tried- and-True Methods for Getting New Clients
Word-of-Mouth- Tell everyone you know. This may make you uncomfortable at times but do it anyway. Create awareness. If no one knows where you are or what you’re doing, how are they supposed to schedule an appointment with you? Strike up a conversation wherever you are- grocery store, yoga class, doctor’s office you get the idea. Pro-tip: QR business codes are amazing. Download the app and plug in your business information. Business cards can get lost so this is a great way for them to save your contact in their phone right away.
Referrals. Start a referral program. Plan it out. Don’t half do it but create a referral program that makes sense for your business and benefits your client. Be consistent, ASK your regular clients for referrals. They want your business thriving too. DON'T just create referral cards and stick them in a drawer. It will be a waste of time and resources. Be active with your referral program and give a referral card to all of your best clients.
Network. Networking with local businesses is a great way to get yourself out there and get in front of people that can help you. Find out when your chamber of commerce meetings are and put them on your schedule and show up. Not just once or twice but get to know your community. Look for local entrepreneur groups and local groups through facebook and join. By networking locally this is going to do a couple of things for you. It’s going to establish your business within the community. And it’s also putting out in the universe and the world that hey, I’m serious about this, I’m not going anywhere and I’m going to keep showing up and building my business. Your mindset should be that, 'I’m going to make this work no matter what.' I’m a big believer in the law of attraction and manifestation but you have to put effort in for the things that you want to manifesting and attract.
Collaborations. Work with local influencers or friends/family (for before and after/ social media posts/ reviews and testimonials). You need to set up clear expectations for both parties. Create a contract that specify's the terms and expectations for you and your client. For instance, if you want to use their before and after and you need them to come back on a certain date make sure that's in the contract as well as the date they are expected back. If they are paying half price in exchange for a testimonial include it in the contract. Be mindful of who you are offering your services to so that you get what you need for your business. Ultimately this is a way for you to promote your business so you want to keep it professional.
Create an Introductory offer. I’m not personally a huge fan of monthly specials. I believe if you provide education and value that you shouldn’t have to run them monthly. I believe that can work against you and not for you in the long run. I would reserve those specials for once or twice a year. That being said, I do think there are exceptions to the rule and when you are opening a business or you're trying to get a new esthetician's books filled you can make that exception and craft a really great introductory offer to get new clients in the door and get your books full.
Social Media Post Idea
Booking Appointments: Make sure your online booking is set up and easy for new clients to use. Pro-tip: Do a social media post walking them through step-by-step how to book a service with you.
PRO-TIP: GOOGLE MAPS
Make sure Google Maps is correct and up-to-date. Make sure your address and phone number are popping up correctly in google maps. That’s how a lot of clients are searching…. Best esthetician near me, medical esthetician near me, botox near me… best facial near me.
We’ve discussed several tried and true ways to bring new clients and now you're going to pick 3-4 ideas that we discussed above to create a powerful client acquisition plan for your business. Creating a plan of action is going to be the best way to help you get new clients in the door. I’ve also found that if I have a plan and goals that I can work toward, it makes me feel empowered to achieve my goals. I want to help you feel empowered today. So let’s do some goal setting!
Create A Client Acquisition Plan for Your Business
Make 3 columns:
1st Column is Goals: You are going to list how many new clients you want to bring into your business this week/month?
2nd Column is Plan: What’s your plan to make your goal happen? You can use some of the tried and true strategies that I talked about above or you can create your own.
3rd Columnis Action Steps: List the action steps you will do this week to work towards your goal. Be specific in the action you will take.

Example:
1st Column Goal:
5 new clients
2nd Column Plan:
Create my QR bus. Card
Craft an introductory offer for new clients
Collaborate with a local business
3rd Column Action:
Share my QR Business Code with 10 people this week
Post my introductory offer on instagram 3x this week
I will create a collaboration idea and reach out to one local biz this week.
Bonus: You can utilize this document for more than one goal. The key is to set a goal, make a plan and list the action steps you are going to do to achieve your goal. If it were me, I would be doing this weekly. In fact, I do this weekly for my business! Set new goals every week. If you don’t meet your goal one week, that’s okay. We're not going to hit home runs every time but the idea is to START working the plan and taking steps to move the needle.
A lot of these ideas and strategies are core fundamentals to starting any new business and working toward growing your clientele base. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get results immediately. It takes time, hustle and effort to grow your esthetician business and most of the time as much as we want it too, it just doesn’t happen overnight.
