Are you looking to earn more in your Esthetician business? Maybe you want to reach 6-figures, or maybe you want to earn enough to not live paycheck to paycheck. When I started in the industry, I was just hoping to be able to make a living doing something I loved. I never dreamed of 6-figure success but I did achieve it and I’m teaching you how to get started on your 6-figure + journey as an esthetician. These next steps are what I helped contribute to my overall success and while it does take time, hard work and hustle I know you can do it too and my goal is to help and guide you to get there faster.
Know Your Why.
Why are you an esthetician?
Why do you want to make life changing money?
How will reaching your money goals change your life?
Answer these questions first because your why is ultimately what will keep you motivated on the tough days. Your why is so important to figure out and refer back to on your journey.
There will be days that you don’t feel like showing up. That you want to throw in the towel and quit. This is why you want to keep your focus on you, why to stay on track and keep going.
Invest in yourself.
My best advice is to continue learning and immerse yourself in the industry every chance you get. Become an expert in your field. Find and narrow your niche especially when starting out as a solo esthetician. This can help you grow and scale your business faster than trying to do it all.
Sign up for continuing education courses. Sign up for the esthetician conferences. Work with a coach or mentor. Set those education goals early and stick to them. Pick 2-4 educational opportunities each year. This will help you to stay motivated, teach you new skills and help you refine your current skill set.
You will never regret investing in yourself and it will always push you to your next level.
Negotiate your worth.
Whether you work for someone else or you work for yourself. Negotiate your worth as an employee with your boss. Make sure your commission and/or hourly is worth your time and that you can provide for you and your family.
If you work for yourself, make sure you are pricing your services to reflect what you need to make in your business. It’s your time, education, energy, blood, sweat and tears. It’s time away from your family. Yes, it’s a career you love and you deserve to be adequately compensated. Period.
Price your services effectively.
Make sure you are pricing your services effectively and if you work for an employer make sure they are. You don’t want to work for the cheapest spa in town and neither do you want to be the cheapest in town. Because guess what, that’s who you will attract. Those clients that are spa shopping and always looking for a bargain.
Focus on Retail Sales and High-ticket treatments
Focus on high-ticket treatment transformations and packages. The more you can make per hour, per room by combining treatments and retail products the easier it will be to hit your end goal. So make sure you know the number you are trying to reach and focus on those treatments and products that you truly believe in and that will help your clients reach their end goal faster.
Market yourself.
Whether you work for yourself or an employer. This is a must. It's important especially when you are just starting out to get the word out about you and your services. An employer should be helping to market you but if it were me I would never leave it up to someone else entirely. I would want my books full so I would be putting in every effort alongside them to make sure that happens. Also these skills will transfer over to other areas in your life and business.
Create Client Relationships and that will build client retention and loyalty.
Ultimately, client relationships are going to be key to success. Those are your clients who will support you, listen to your advice and show up when you need them. Start working on those relationships early and often. Creating memberships and loyalty programs is also a great way to keep them coming back. Focusing on client retention will help keep you fully booked.
Be determined to succeed.
Be consistent and determined. Keep doing what you love and showing up for the life you want to create. There will be roadblocks and struggles along the way but find a way around them. It’s worth it! No one gets there overnight but you will get there if you don’t give up!
